Plickers for the 1-iPad Classroom

"The iPads have all been signed out!" or "The next time I can get a whole class set of iPads is in two weeks!" These are common struggles of a GC4 teacher and Karen Pricket, Instructional Coach at Meadowmere Elementary decided to showcase a solution to this problem; Plickers. Plickers (paper clickers) is a online tool which allows teacher to collect data with only an iPad or a smartphone. This is a great assessment tool to get a snapshot of how your students are doing. Plickers are a great way to engage all students in your classroom.

Karen started by giving staff an article to read, then gave each group a Plicker card, and assessed the group with 4 questions. Each group held up their card giving their answer to these questions, then Karen scanned in the answers with her iPad. Their data appeared up on the screen to enable a discussion.  The video to the right will introduce you to the world of Plickers!
