Inspired by the style of this poem, students were challenged to create their own poems about adversity at school. Once they wrote their poems, they worked collaboratively in groups of three, decided on the poem of the three that they liked best, and then were tasked to create a video portrayal of the poem. Using iMovie, the students combined text, images, video, and music to create their own powerful piece on overcoming adversity. Check out the video "Becoming Strong" below for an example of what students were able to create. This is a great way to get students collaborating while using a tool that is typically thought to be one-user only!
